“Dream On!” Tribute by Bethany Vanderputten

SAN FRANCISCO -- Bethany Vanderputten, illustration artist, is pleased to announce the release of her new album “Dream On! A Tribute to Aerosmith”, showcasing her hand-painted illustration art at www.bethanyillustrates.com. The new album goes live on Febuary 1, 2011. In her radiant and dramatic paintings, Bethany captures the excitement of one of the greatest musical performers of our time, Aerosmith, and their lead singer, Steven Tyler.

Exploring the Charisma of Musical Genius

Aerosmith’s continually fresh cultural influence and musical style intrigue Bethany. She has chosen to portray the band personified by Native American images and story that she believes is inextricably interwoven into Steven Tyler’s personality.

At the heart of Bethany's art is the exploration of the music genius: “It's a persona thing. I'm looking at who Steven Tyler presents himself to be. But I'm also looking at who he really is and trying to think about that. I want to present something about him to the world that he’s never seen. I want to find his 'soul' and bring it to light in a way that he might not expect." - Bethany Vanderputten

How do you portray the soul of a music genius?

How do you express the electric excitement of the live performance, the emotional power of the song, the mystique of the performer who is idolized by fans all over the world?

For illustration artist Bethany Vanderputten, this is her passion, her quest and her muse. She has dedicated herself to exploring, in paint, the living music legends of our time. Bethany's paintings translate the emotive power of music into visual images that celebrate and reveal the essence of the music genius.

Creative collaboration brings art and music together

Bethany offers creative collaboration with top musical performers, to construct a visual identity package that is inspired by, and beautifully complements, the musical experience.

For each artist, Bethany creates a series of paintings that accompany songs, an album or live experience. Whether it's through portraiture, concert scenes or symbolic imagery, Bethany's illustrations conjure moods and emotions that photographs cannot.

"The music is creative so why shouldn't the artwork be?" - Bethany Vanderputten

Bethany's luminous, texture-rich illustrations work well for a range of applications... from album art and packaging, to websites, concert merchandise and marketing, and more.

Bethany believes that forward-looking music celebrities are looking for new kinds of visual identities. Her paintings have drama, depth, mystery and complexity, reflecting the music and the musicians themselves. Like the songs that inspire them, these are artworks that grow and take on meaning over time.

Illustration for Music Celebrities by Bethany Vanderputten

SAN FRANCISCO -- Bethany Vanderputten, illustration artist, is pleased to announce her newly re-designed website, www.bethanyillustrates.com, showcasing her hand-painted illustration art for the music superstar. The new site goes live on January 3, 2011. In her radiant and dramatic paintings, Bethany captures the excitement of some of the greatest musical performers of our time: Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and (coming soon) Aerosmith.

How do you portray the soul of a music genius?

How do you express the electric excitement of the live performance, the emotional power of the song, the mystique of the performer who is idolized by fans all over the world?

Exploring the Charisma of the Music Superstar

At the heart of Bethany's art is the exploration of the music genius:

"I don't just want to deconstruct someone's persona, but examine it and even reflect it back to them (and us) in an exciting way. Something I find about superstars is that they have a sort of charisma or drawing power that is unique unto them.

As musicans / performing artists capture the hearts of their fans, so I'd like my art to do so. I want to find their "souls" and bring them to light in a way that they might not expect." - Bethany Vanderputten

Bethany is the musician's artist

Bethany is a musican, singer, songwriter and performer, as well as a gifted visual artist. Having been immersed in music all her life, she understands music's power to create positive connections across all cultures and languages. Bethany's illustrations combine her love of art and music in a beautiful way, that musicians and music lovers will especially appreciate.

Bethany's art can bring positive attention to the music. Bethany's art-music collaboration with Canada's Holy Trinity Band resulted in the album artwork being nominated for CD/DVD Artwork of the Year from the Gospel Music Association of Canada, in 2006.

"Florette"

Bethany Vanderputten's 2011 Calendar Coming this Fall!

SAN FRANCISCO -- New paintings by Canadian artist and illustrator Bethany Vanderputten will be released in her 2011 Calendar "Florette". Featuring sixteen full color floral paintings reproduced at their original size this calendar will be 7"x10" and wire-bound. Every month will feature a new 6"x6" painting accompanied by a short scripture Bethany has chosen to complement each painting. "Florette" will be available this Fall on ETSY at http://www.etsy.com/shop/bethanyvanderputten.

Bethany Vanderputten is originally from Canada and recently received her Masters in Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Before coming to San Francisco, Bethany received her Bachelors in Design degree in Visual Communications from Alberta College of Art and Design in Canada, and worked for several years as a graphic designer. She also supports the Graphic Artists Guild as the Northern California Chapter Administrator. "Florette" is the first calendar Bethany has illustrated. She has also designed it herself.

The great impressionist painter Claude Monet once said "I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers" and Bethany feels much the same way. She began painting these small florals as warm-ups for her larger works but soon recognized that they had a beauty unto themselves.

Bethany sums up her illustrative style with this poetic tagline: "Expressive art to capture the heart".

I really want to engage people in a way that captures them. Because I am trying to tell a story through my art, sometimes you have to look at it for awhile to get it. That's what I am exploring through different techniques, through my tactile painting or texture or color: capturing someone's heart through what they see, by expressing my own heart.

They say a picture says a thousand words. Bethany Vanderputten's naturalistic acrylic paintings go deeper than words. They are explorations of the inner and outer world. Bethany's paintings glow softly with luminous colors, expressive brushwork and textures that hint at layers of multiple meanings. Ideas and emotions seem to drift fluidly just beneath the surface. Experiencing these paintings, we travel back and forth across the border of what is real and what is imagined, dreamed, or felt emotionally. Bethany's art is inspired by her love of travel and adventure, music (she sings and plays piano), heroic stories and quotations from literature and poetry.
